In 1986, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences was established. SVIMS Tirupati was established as a university under the UGC Act of 1995. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has approved SVIMS Tirupati for running various D.M, M.Ch, and M.D programmes since 2003. Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences has been recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC). The institute is placed 38th in the medical category in the NIRF 2020 ranking. The campus area of SVIMS Tirupati is 107.04 acres. To serve the underprivileged and needy patients, SVIMS Tirupati has well-trained faculty. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral programmes. According to the official website, SVIMS Tirupati aim is to include service, training, education, and research in advanced medical sciences and technology.

To create a teaching and learning environment to help students develop their own learning styles and ability to use academic resources while reflecting on their experience. The medical course is designed to develop and maintain lifelong patterns of appropriate professional behavior.

Admission Process

The institute offers admissions to a total of 60 courses at diploma, UG, PG and doctoral levels. SVIMS Tirupati admissions to B.Sc, B.P.T and diploma programmes are offered based on the merit of the interview followed by a counselling process. Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences admission to M.D. programmes are based on NEET PG scores, whereas admissions to D.M. and M.Ch. programmes are offered on the basis of NEET SS scores. Candidates must apply for and participate in the All India level counselling, which is held to provide admission to various medical colleges across India based on NEET scores. Students can also apply for M.Sc. and Ph.D programmes at the institute based on their performance in a written test followed by an interview. Students must appear and qualify for the counselling session held to give admission to these programmes.

Facilities
The facilities are modern and upgraded at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences Tirupati. The institute offers all the necessary facilities to the students. Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences Tirupati facilities provide a comfortable environment for students and faculty members. The institute has a library, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, cafeteria, auditorium, healthcare, etc. A comprehensive counselling and testing centre is available at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences.

Boys Hostel
SVIMS Tirupati has a boy’s hostel that is fully equipped with modern amenities. Rooms at boys hostels are spacious and well-ventilated.

Girls Hostel
The institute has a separate hostel for girls students. The girls hostel of the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences has all the basic facilities required for the convenience of the students.

Medical/Hospital
Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences provides medical services and has a full-time team of doctors on call. On the campus of SVIMS Tirupati, there is also a drug information centre. The department of pharmacology created this centre in order to educate people and healthcare professionals about how drugs work.

Library
Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences maintains a large volume library, which includes medical books, non-medical books, Indian and foreign periodicals, and back volumes, and CD/DVDs in its collection. Other services offered by the library include scanning, reprography, and internet access. The library also has access to the KOHA library automation programme, which allows for quick access to library materials.

Sports
Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences campus has facilities for indoor and outdoor sports. All students have access to sports facilities at the institute.

I.T Infrastructure
The students have access to good IT infrastructure at the institute.

Scholarship

Mukhymantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana or MYSY Scholarship is a scholarship scheme that is offered to the economically weaker section students of Gujarat. All those students who wish to pursue higher education like diploma courses, engineering, pharmacy course, medical course, etc apply for MYSY scholarship every year.

Transport

The College has its own fleet of buses to transport the students to and from various parts of the city. The own transport considerably reduces the commuting hassles otherwise faced by students and staff.

Placements 

The placement rate for PG (1-year) courses has been the same in 2021 and 2022, i.e. 100%
A drop of almost 69% was recorded in the median package of BSc/ BPT courses in 2022 when compared with 2021
