About Us

Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust was established in 1984. The Trust has set before itself the noble idea of establishing cardinal centres of professional education in various disciplines. The centres offer our young men and women the right kind of opportunity to pursue professional course of their choice. The Trust intends to train the youth and transform them into excellent professionals, gifted with exemplary qualities, so as to make them committed servants of the larger society.

Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research was established under the aegis of Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust with the aim of imparting higher knowledge in Science and Technology to the aspiring boys and girls, so that they can emerge as competent scientists, engineers, technologists, and healthcare specialist of repute. BIST was started in the year 1984 and acquired deemed to be University status in the year 2003 by University Grants Commission (UGC).

The Institute has been for 39 years is committed to the grand task of providing quality education, which will transform the students into efficient and successful careerists. Students who have graduated from BIHER are already serving in responsible positions, in India and abroad.

Admission Process

The Institution offers MBBS program recognized by the Medical Council of India. Bhaarath Hospital, the 500 bed teaching hospital attached to the Institution provides all levels of holistic health care including major super-specialty services and provides excellent training opportunities to the students of the Academy.

Academic Qualifications & Eligibility

Candidates who have passed HSC examination (Academic Stream of 10 +2 curriculum) of any State/CBSE/ISC or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with the group of subjects specified below and obtained the minimum eligible marks prescribed are eligible to apply for admission to the course concerned.

MCI Norms:

Candidates should have obtained the minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination as per National Medical Commission / Medical Council of India norms.

(i)    Candidates must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Biotechnology in the qualifying examinations.

(ii)    In respect of candidates belonging to scheduled caste, scheduled tribes or other backward classes the minimum marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Biotechnology taken together in qualifying examination shall be 40%.

(iii)    In respect of candidates with benchmark disabilities specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 the minimum marks in qualifying examination in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or (Botany and Zoology) / Biotechnology taken together shall be 45%

Age Limit:

Candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the academic year. Date of birth given in the HSC/CBSE/ISC marks sheet or in the Birth Certificate/ Passport shall be taken for computing age of the candidate.
