About us

Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Chittoor was established in 2015 in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The institute is run by Apollo Hospitals Education and Research Foundation. Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research offers MBBS programme. The total course duration is 5 years and six months including one year compulsory rotating internship. The institute is affiliated with the Dr YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada.

Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Chittoor has several departments. The departments include Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, General Medicine and many others. All the programmes are approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The institute offers various facilities to its students. The Apollo Institute Chittoor has a spacious and well equipped library housed in a separate block. The institute runs 850 bedded Chittoor Government District Hospital. The hospital has state of art facilities, casualty, labs and separate hostels for boys and girls, well furnished class rooms and many more.

The placement cell at Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Chittoor offers training and job opportunities to its students. The cell provides internships and in-house hospital jobs to students. It organises webinars, seminars, guest lectures, mock tests and other activities to develop the soft skills and communication skills of the students.

Admission

Eligibility criteria: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects and should have secured a minimum of 50% marks (for general category candidates) and 40% marks (for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in aggregate.
For Govt. only students having a domicile of Andhra Pradesh will be able to participate. For Private medical colleges of Andhra Pradesh, both domicile and Non-domicile students can participate.

The admission process for MBBS courses in Andhra Pradesh is conducted by the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS), Vijayawada.

There are 12 Govt/1 AIIMS, 1 Deemed & 13 Private Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, which offer 5685 M.B.B.S Seats. Counseling will be done for both Govt. as well as Private. Whereas Deemed counseling will take place through MCC.

In the year 2022 state counseling body introduced a new seat-sharing formula, which created a lot of stress on the students from other states who were looking for getting a medical seat in Andhra Pradesh.

Facilities

Boys Hostel
The rooms are furnished with comfortable cots, Study Table, Cupboards etc with common Bathroom/Toilet facility. Security Guard coverage is available 24×7. Recreation facilities are available. The hostel is under the control of the Warden and 2 assistant resident wardens. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are served in the Student Mess. Evening snacks and Tea/Coffee are provided in the Hostel.

Girls Hostel
The rooms are furnished with comfortable cots, Study Table, Cupboards, etc with a common Bathroom/Toilet facility. Security Guard coverage is available 24×7. Recreation facilities are available. The hostel is under the control of the Warden and 2 assistant resident wardens. The student mess is adjacent to the girl’s hostel. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are served in the Student Mess. Evening snacks and Tea/Coffee are provided in the Hostel.

Medical/Hospital
The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.

Library
The Central Library is located on the second floor of this institution. It has a floor area of 1250 Sq.ms. Medlars with required computer nodes and Internet connectivity are available. The Library is well illuminated and air-conditioned. It provides a good ambiance and is free from noise. The library Circulation counter cum Reception area is at the entrance of the library. Electronic devices will be used in this counter for handling books issued from the library or returned. The library works from 8.00 am to 11.00 pm on all working days, and functions from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm on Sundays and other Public Holidays. The library is closed on National Holidays such as Republic Day, Independence Day, and Gandhi Jayanthi.

I.T Infrastructure
The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded for deserving and meritorious candidates under the following criteria (Only for a first-year fee of all courses)-

Scholarship For UG-
i) 95% and Above will be awarded 25% of Tution Fee
ii) 85% -94% will be awarded 15% of Tution Fee

Scholarship for PG-
i) Above 90% or above 9 CGPA will be awarded 25% of the Tution Fee
ii) Above 80%-89% or 8 – 9 CGPA will be awarded 15% of the Tution Fee
